1/12/2007: Female in large KK. Male placed in female's enclosure. He was tapping and bouncing for approximately 15 minutes before he began to approach the female. Female turned towards the male and appeared receptive. They came together briefly, then male backed up. Female attacked male, but male was able to escape. They attempted to come together again, scuffled a bit, then male was taken out of KK.
Male appeared to be injured, was curling legs slightly, and abdomen was sinking in. However, there were no external signs of injury and the male did not die.
